conchos, show halter\

Wow, my best friend's granddaughter is graduating high school next month.  I can't believe the time has gone by so fast.  I remember when her daughter got pregnant, and we were rushing everywhere to get her all the baby things she would need...or not.

My best, Diane, and I always loved horseback riding.  I remember us doing a lot of that sport from a very young age.  Since her daughter also loved the sport, it was a natural assumption that this new baby would too.  So, there we were...baby items and a brand new horse halter.  We even found some tiny conchos which we naturally purchased.  When that little girl came and was big enough, we put those conchos on the toddler, put her on a pony, added the horse halter which was really a show halter, and took loads of pictures.  They turned out so beautifully, and she was the toast of our world.  Now she is graduating high school and will be off to college in the fall.  Our little Kaylan...who is now taller than both of us...still riding horses.  We ride occasionally; but, our options have changed on how we ride and how often we ride.

Looking for the perfect graduation gift meant finding something she could truly use other than money.  Finally, after looking online at an ecommerce store called Jewelry Tack Room located at http://www.jewelrytackroom.com/, I found the perfect gift.  It was a digital frame with a clock.  This would be something to use in her dorm, and I decided to put one of those lovely pictures of her as a toddler with her show halter and conchos.  It really looked great in that frame.

Kaylan was the only one of us that actually competed in horse shows.  The first equestrian tack we got for that first show was so pretty.  I remember we carefully selected the show halter and conchos to match Kaylan's hair.  The horse looked fantastic as well.  She placed forth; but, to us, she won that competition.  I never missed her competing after that, and eventually she did win.  She even won some horse tack occasionally.

Now she will be leaving the "nest," and Diane and I plan on going out and doing more things to pass the time and have fun.  However, horseback riding is still our greatest love, and since both of our husbands could care less about that sport, I suppose we will once more hit the conchos and horse tack, and we'll ride the short trails available to us.
