Now that my son has decided he’d like to have a horse, I’ve encouraged him to start looking for things like a horse halter and other items that he’ll need if we decide to buy him one. He’s loved horses since I first read him Black Beauty when he was a little boy and has always said that one day he’d own a horse. The past couple of years he’s been asking us for a pony, and we’ve finally decided that we’re going to get him one this year as a combination birthday and Christmas gift. I haven’t told him this for certain, but have dropped hints about him going online to look for a horse halter because that’s where he can find the best prices. I still have a feeling that he doesn’t believe the possibility exists for him to get a horse, so even though he has found a horse halter that he likes, he’s never suggested that we order it. What he doesn’t know is that I’ve already ordered the horse halter, and once it arrives, we’ll probably give it to him and take him to look at a couple of horses that we’ve had our eye on. Owning a horse is closer than he realizes.
