My daughter came home from riding at the beach yesterday with her horses and I found that she’d taken her show halter to the beach. If I had known before hand, I could have warned her that taking the show halter to the beach and getting it wet with salt water would ruin it, but I had no idea that was her plan. Instead, she came inside after the ride on the beach and handed me the show halter, which was covered in sand and salty spots on the leather that had turned white. I asked her what happened to the show halter and before she could answer, I knew by the look on her face that she’d taken it with her to the beach and used it.
I knew better than to get angry, because what was done was done. She handed me some money and asked if I would order her a new show halter similar to the one that had been ruined. I promised her that I would, and I ordered it within five minutes. I do hope that she’ll think about it this time when she wants to take the horse out for a ride on the beach.
