horse tack, horse halterAbout a month ago, I met a girl at a bar and hit it off with almost immediately after getting over the awkward introductory period. With some liquid courage, I made some observation comment about the beer she ordered as we both stood at the bar waiting for our order. It was a local beer bar and she got this really hoppy, magnificent IPA. It is the kind of bitter bite that only someone interested in craft beer would ever order. The night went by and I ended up getting her number. Not long after we were hanging out. She became a friend pretty quick. She struck me as a very genuine person. Nothing she said seemed like boasting or blowing smoke. I came to find out she works at one of the local equestrian centers in town. There aren’t many of them considering we live in the city. On a day off, she invited me out with her to yank back the horse halter and trot around in the riding ring. That was really cool. Before that it had been many years since I saddled up the horse tack and went riding. Honestly, I didn’t really know what I was doing but said that I could get by from past equestrian tack experiences. I think she noticed my lack of horse halter skills when it took like three attempts to jump onto the saddle.

That day I learned that she competes in horse jumping competitions. She showed me what that is all about with a few of the small hurdles set up in the field we were riding. She had a little competition coming up at the equestrian center we were at. I suggested timing her progress to see where she could improve. I’ve done this with autocross racing before. With the perfect tool for the job, I went home to grab the Casio W87H-1V Sports Wrist Watch I’d previously purchased at the Jewelry Tack Room at http://www.jewelrytackroom.com/.

At the time of purchase, I didn’t think anything of this retailer’s horse tack inspiration. It was pretty ironic the watch I bought for them was actually getting use amongst horse tack. Coincidence, I think not. For about a week, I helped her track times around the horse jumping course. She got faster by the end and that had nothing to with using a show halter. The competition came and she placed 4th out of ten. Pretty good if you ask me. Next time I know she will take podium.
