With a horse tack, equestrian tack and show halter in hand, she can beat any competitor. That's my Granddaughter, Kendra, and she has is a natural with horses. She started riding when she was five-years-old, and she never looked back. Kendra has been competing for several years, and although she hasn't won every round of competition, she certainly held her own.
Her Grandfather and I wanted to do something really special for Kendra. We went online in search of a nice piece of jewelry we could give her to show our admiration for her talents and skill. I discovered a neat ecommerce store called Jewelry Tack Room located at http://www.jewelrytackroom.com/. While going through the various site's merchandise, I found a Sterling Silver Longhorn Pendant. This pendant represented the ranch my daughter and her husband have, and this is Kendra's true home. She loves all animals, and the horses and steer are her favorite.
My daughter, Heather, grew up riding horses, and she won many ribbons through the years. She passed that love and respect on to Kendra. I remember the first time I saw Kendra wearing conchos...wow, what an exciting time for all of us. We realized Kendra was following in her Mom's footsteps, and those were good footsteps to follow.
Kendra's Dad bought Kendra's horse, Fanny, her first horse halter. I remember Kendra wanting to put rhinestones on it. Then when she started competing, we had to get better equestrian tack, and of course, a show halter. Kendra wore a red and white cowgirl outfit, and she looked like a little Princess. The announcer dubbed her the "Princess of the Rodeo." She was just that too...a real princess.
Heather started competing when she was ten-years-old; so, Kendra will be up on her in experience by the time she is a young woman. It makes me proud of the way the girls have grown both physically and mentally. The best part of all is the fact that Heather has passed the "good" parts onto her daughter.
So, we have the camera, the camcorder, and the time to go, see and record the events as they unfold. However, I would have loved to have had the chance to use a show halter and compete myself. Although I did not have that chance, I live through my daughter and now my Granddaughter. When they won or win, the thrill is equally mine. That is not a bad thing...not a bad thing at all.
