show haltersMy wife’s parents have been showing their horses for years upon years. After her dad retired, he decided that he would start showing his horses and trying to win big prizes in different Texas tournaments. I never learned so much about horses than I did when I was visiting them in Texas over this past weekend. My father took me to the ranch where the horses were stalled, and started showing me the difference between normal halters and show halters. I have always thought that show halters were just fancy halters, but they are actually quite different, as my father has taught me. The differences are simple, but they make a huge impact when you are showing horses using show halters. For one, a normal halter is larger and leaves less of the horses markings and face available for normal view. Show halters, on the other hand, leave more of the horse’s face unveiled for potential people and judges to be able to see the markings. The last thing he told me about show halters was that with show halters are generally more lavish looking so that the horse that you are showing looks its best!
