Riding horses has always been one of my favorite pastimes, but it seems like I never get to do it as much or as often as I like. I should tell you upfront that I've never owned my own horses, but I learned to ride as a young boy and go back to it periodically just for fun. There's something very relaxing about taking a trail ride on a nice and just kind of strolling along aboard a horse. Personally, I don't have to be going anywhere in particular on my trail ride, I'm just in love with equestrian tack, from the shiny conchos on the bridles to the smell of leather saddles because of all the fond memories that they evoke. Honestly, I even don't mind the smell of horse sweat on a hot day because it takes me back to years before when I got to saddle and ride a horse almost every day for a month at the sleep away camp I went to. I'm still no expert horseman, but I know my way around most types of equestrian tack, from show halters to regular horse halters, cinches, saddle blankets and the like. To tell you the truth, one of the ways I scope out potential girlfriends is by taking them riding. If they're into it, that tells me that they're outdoorsy and adventurous enough to keep up with me. On the other hand, when I suggest a brisk ride and my date begs off and suggests going shopping instead, a little voice in the back of my head tells me that I'd better keep looking for a potential soul mate. Show me a woman who loves equestrian tack and knows which fork to use at a fancy restaurant, and I'll show you someone that I can probably get along with for a long time. Of course, after finding the right woman, you're also saddled with (no pun intended, honest!) the responsibility or duty of keeping your lady love happy with the right sort of presents, which is why I was so happy find to the Jewelry Tack Room website at: http://www.jewelrytackroom.com. There I didn't find much in the way of equestrian tack, but it was loaded with other goodies, so I was able to locate a gorgeous silver and gem-studded cuff-style bracelet called naturally enough, a 14K & Silver Citrine & Garnet Cuff. It's just a beautiful piece, and my lady friend was thrilled to find it in her stocking this year. I was secretly pleased because I was able to get my riding partner a great gift at an extremely reasonable price. |
